I remember the good (or bad) old days when...

...every church service included the Doxology, and Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence (played on the organ in hollow, sepulchral tones)

...my mother wrote each of her children a handwritten letter every week

...a bag of groceries (food) was about $10.00, for a vegetarian

...I could spend all afternoon out in the hills, and my mother wouldn't worry about me

...a house in Loma Linda cost $14,000 (should've bought it)

I have more, but it's your turn.

...my dad worked 2-3 jobs so my mom could stay home with the 4 of us (and pay church school tuition!)

When ladies wore dresses to church, and gentlemen wore suits

When the car wouldn't start, and we could push it (all four of us) and Dad would jump in and put it in gear and it would start!

When pre-adults were called children, not baby goats.

When a 1500 square-foot house was considered large.

When no student drove to high school.

I remember when playing with large boxes was the most fun thing in the world...

I remember when dresses for the girls were mandatory at school and the hem HAD to fall below the knee..

I remember when my mother made us wear long cotton stockings, held up with a garter belt, to school every day [even in California]. I was considered so odd that on April Fool's Day my classmates played jokes on me by saying, "Jeannie, you've got a hole in your stocking!"

I can remember paying a nickel for a head of lettuce and a carton of milk.
