Which letter starts the fewest words in the English language?

X

X

Answer: Try naming five words that start with the letter X. Xylophone, X-ray…not so easy, right? You might want to stop because the Oxford English Dictionary only lists a mere 400 words that begin with the letter X. In fact, in Noah Webster’s Compendious Dictionary, which was published in 1806, there was only one word listed under the letter X: xebec, defined as “a small, three-masted vessel of the Mediterranean”. In 1828, when he put together his American Dictionary, that number had only risen to 13. The number of words starting with the letter X continued to rise until it reached the 400 that we have today.

THUMB

Answer: The medical for your thumb is the pollex (compared to hallux for your big toe). The thumb is the first, most lateral digit on the radial side of the hand, classified by most anatomists as one of the fingers because its metacarpal bone ossifies in the same manner as those of the phalanges. Other anatomists classify the thumb separately, noting that it has a much different articulation with the metacarpal bone and is composed of one metacarpal bone and only two phalanges.

PHKRAUSE

the answer  is GREEN BAY PACKERS

dgrimm60

Answer: The Green Bay Packers are the only fan-owned team in professional sports. Rather than being the property of an individual or corporate entity, they are held in by 360,584 stockholders. It is this broad-based community support and non-profit structure which has kept the team in Green Bay for nearly a century in spite of being the smallest market in all of North American professional sports. As a publicly held nonprofit, the Packers are also the only American major-league sports franchise to release its financial balance sheet every year.

Which state is known as the Badger State?

Wisconsin

21 hours ago, dgrimm60 said:

WISCONSIN

Answer: On this day in 1848, Wisconsin entered the Union as the 30th state. The nickname for Wisconsin is "The Badger State." The badger is featured on Wisconsin's coat of arms, state seal, and state flag, and is also the official state animal. The nickname dates back to the 1820s, when mining became a huge business, leading thousands of men to the ample iron ore mines in the Midwest. Wisconsin workers made temporary homes by digging caves into the rock of the mines, similar to tunnels that badgers dig for shelter. The miners came to be known as “badger boys” or “badgers,” and the name eventually came to represent the state itself.

MARIE  CURIE

Answer: Marie Curie conducted pioneering research on radioactivity. Her efforts, along with her husband Pierre Curie, led to the discovery of the radioactive elements polonium and radium, while working with the mineral pitchblende. After years of extensive research handling highly radioactive materials with no safeguards, Curie succumbed to aplastic anemia—a disorder of brought on by her exposure to radiation—at the age of 66. The artifacts found within her laboratory, including her numerous research notebooks, are still so radioactive as to require special storage and protective equipment to handle.

Answer: High Valyrian is a fictional language spoken in the television drama “Game of Thrones”. For the TV series, linguist David J. Peterson created the High Valyrian language from scratch, complete with grammar and rules. Peterson also created Dothraki, which is another fictional language heard throughout "Game of Thrones". More than 1.2 million “Game of Thrones” fans have signed up to learn High Valyrian, which is more people than can speak traditional languages like Irish and Scottish Gaelic. Valyrian and Dothraki have been described as "the most convincing fictional tongues since Elvish".

STANFORD AND SON

Answer: When All in the Family debuted in 1971, few people suspected it would be responsible for more spin-offs than any other sitcom in television history. All in the Family directly spun off five situation comedies and two additional spin-offs from those spin-offs. In all, the historic sitcom spun off a total of 7 shows, which included 860 episodes, and more than 400 hours of network television. The spin-offs include Maude (which spun off Good Times), The Jeffersons (which spun off Checking In), Gloria, Archie Bunker’s Place, and 704 Hauser.

Answer: A feline is defined as an animal of the cat family. Garfield is a fictional cat and the protagonist of the comic strip Garfield, created by Jim Davis. The comic strip centers on Garfield, portrayed as a lazy, fat, and cynical orange cat. He is noted for his love of lasagna and sleeping, and his hatred of Mondays. The comic strip is syndicated in roughly 2,580 newspapers and journals, and held the Guinness World Record for being the world's most widely syndicated comic strip. Originally created with the intentions to "come up with a good, marketable character", Garfield has spawned merchandise earning approximately $1 billion annually.
