Are you called, chosen, committed? That's the theme for this year's ASI convention in Phoenix, Ariz., on Aug. 3-6. Each year, ASI members, supporters, and friends gather at the ASI International Convention to encourage one another and exchange ideas vital to their lay-driven ministry goals. The annual convention is an energetic, inspiring affair where networks are formed and plans are made — and those who attend the convention return to their local churches inspired and equipped to start lay outreach efforts in their own workplaces and communities. Adventists in the News

It's camp meeting time! The Seventh-day Adventist Church has been conducting camp meetings for more than 100 years. Each conference in the North American Division plans a camp meeting (some are 10-day events!) filled with seminars and sermons that teach biblical principles, healthier lifestyles, practical living principles, and more. Check out this year's camp meeting schedule.

Urgent call for dental and vision care medical professionals — you are needed at the next Your Best Pathway to Health clinic to be held on July 13-16, 2016, in Beckley, W.Va., in the heart of Appalachia. Donations are also being accepted. Sign up today, and share with friends/colleagues. Learn more about this life-changing experience from the Pathway to Health LA news videos.

July 9 — save the date! NAD Women's Ministries would like for members to remember that July 9 is "Women's Ministries Offering" day. Offerings collected that day will go toward preparing resources to equip, train, and empower women in Adventist churches. Local churches can plan a special offering appeal, and may choose to watch this 5-minute video about women's ministries. Free bulletin inserts are also available.

You are invited to attend the 2016 Adventist Muslim Relations (AMR) Networking Meeting on July 7-10. During this annual event, missiologists, practitioners, and theologians get together for a weekend to study how to effectively reach out to our Muslim neighbors. This year's event will be held at Andrews University in Berrien Springs, Mich. The event is free, but lodging and meals together are $200. Email Gabriela Profeta-Phillips, or call 423-994-8300, to register or get more information.

You can now watch SALT 365, It Is Written's free online evangelism training. We pray the information and skills you gain are put to use every day of the year. In this week's videopresentation, SALT instructor Michelle Doucoumes shares the nuts and bolts of conducting a Bible study, including how to prepare, how long to stay, what to cover during the study, and how to use your Bible study lessons in the most effective way!

5d03f190-362d-48d5-9985-1f2747992c26.jpgThe SDA Attorneys' Conference and Retreat is back! In the 1980s, this event brought attorneys from across NAD together for networking and learning. After a two-decade hiatus, the conference will be held in Henderson, Nevada, on Oct. 20-23. Attendees will also be able to earn 10+ hours of CLE credits. This conference is sponsored jointly by the Office of General Counsel of the General Conference and the Public Affairs and Religious Liberty Department of the North American Division. Click here to request more information.

If you have been mysteriously unsubscribed to NewsPoints, it probably is because you have simply forwarded your copy to someone who absentmindedly "unsubscribed" instead of asking you not to forward it. The forwarded copy will still have your identity attached to it, and the "unsubscribe" order will be registered to your email address — not theirs. If you forward NewsPoints to a group, ask each person to please let you know if they don't want to receive it so you can take them off your list. If you forward to only one person, you might want to use the "forward to a friend" option in the black area at the bottom of every newsletter.

Of course, the best thing would be to suggest that each person subscribe personally, at www.nadadventist.org/newspoints, which is where you can also re-subscribe or unsubscribe, and find archived issues.

The Women's Ministries Offering will be collected Sabbath, July 9. Postcards (as mentioned in the Announcements section) have been sent to the local churches, and free, downloadable bulletin inserts are available here. You might also want to show the video, "Nurturing with a Purpose," which tells more about the types of ministries women are doing across the division to share Jesus with other women.

It's summer, and many will soon be traveling and looking for a church to visit. Are you ready for that? How will they find you? Is your website up to date and inviting? Make sure visitors to your area can find your church with directional and highway signs. Place an attractive and inviting church yard sign in front of your church. Watch this free Parking Lot Ministry video.

And, once inside, will they be warmly welcomed? Invited for dinner? Check out the Hospitality Ministry Description. Do you have an active Children's Ministry or someone appointed to provide a children's Sabbath school if children arrive? What do you say when people ask for more information about the Adventist Church?

The following resources are designed to help you: Curb Appeal in SpanishEnglishWho are Seventh-day Adventists? brochure; Web Ministry Quick Start Guide in Spanish and EnglishAdventist Notecards to write note and let people know we were glad for their visit and hope they'll return. Some churches keep small folders of information ready to share with visitors. Be sure you are using an up-to-date Seventh- day Adventist® logo, which uses the registration symbol.

Grieving Hearts, Healing Spirit

"We grieved with the families of the 49 victims who died, and the 53 families who still are hoping and praying for the whole healing of those who were part of this tragedy. We cannot make sense of the tragedies that take place in our lives, even though we understand a broad picture. But our hearts grieve with the LGBT community, with those who lost their loved ones, and those who are still struggling. We are praying that the healing spirit of God will touch these lives and bless them."
— Daniel R. Jackson, president of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in North America, in a video message

On the NAD Facebook page, WATCH the entire one-minute video message from Jackson, who traveled to Orlando, with his wife, Donna Jackson. The couple went to comfort and encourage the families of the Orlando, Florida, mass shooting victims, and meet with local pastors, chaplains, and church members who are serving the community. Five Adventist churches in the area offered their sanctuaries for free funeral services for the victims of the shooting. During their visit, the Jacksons stopped at one of the memorials for the 49 lives that were lost tragically as the result of hate in the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history.
