Meet up Sometime?

I am not exactly where to post this, but while I was reading some posts in this forum the idea came to me that it would be really fun to have a place where we can let CA members in our geographical area know about events.  For example, at camp meeting time I could find out which CA members are nearby and possibly meet them in person!

Is there already a forum for that purpose that I am not aware of?

If you finish filling in your profile so people could know where you live, they may call you when they are in your region.  I have had several members PM me when they are in Colorado; and I have contacted other members when I am in their area.  It's really nice to put a face on people you enjoy on this forum.

Thats a good idea, and speaking of this, I had occasion to meet a forum member face to face for the very first time recently. I went to a big city, Calgary, and was originally intending to just go and do some photography. But then I remembered that a forum member who had been supportive of me when i was going all crazy over some stuff, lived in Calgary, so I PMd him and asked if he wanted to meet. At first I was a little uncertain, because this guy is "a church guy" and I am not so much inclined that way right now.

To make a longer story short, it was a very good meeting, and i was not judged or "advised"in any way. Just the same supportive offer of friendship, just the offer to be there. No obligation to pray at the end.He actually took me just the way I am.He didn't seem too bothered about my appearance or my hair-curling stories. Here is a picture Of Joel Melashenko and myself meeting in the coffee shop. I was really glad to have made a new Christian friend as i dont have too many right now.

I have a new respect now for the church after this meeting with Joel for two main reasons. 1/ Joel talked about His church in such a positive, tactful way,and 2/I feel like I actually have made a friend that i can now email or text prayer requests to,and although I had to leave suddenly to get back home and help a loved one who is terminally ill, I was surprised that I didnt start fidgeting in and trying to figure out how to halt the meeting.I wanted to stay longer! I wanted more. If Joel had any sense how much a little, friendly, talk where you just model out acceptance and support. It literally put a new spring of confidence in my step means to people like me, who have very few options. and now there is hope kindled again amidst the many storms of my life. All because of a forum being online, and reaching out.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                     out as a Fascist, a socialist, a leftist-wing fanatic and many other similar disparaging invective. @Wanderer what a great time we enjoyed together.  We talked about Jesus.  That is both enlightening and freeing!  I learned that I had made a friend not only online but in person that I could speak freely with.  I don't know about you, but the whole "church guy" hopefully means a lover of Jesus and a lover of others.  I learned through some of your stories that you are BOTH.  Think you might be a "church guy" after all :)

I saw the picture and before I read it I said to myself, I KNOW! I KNOW!!

Joel is a first-class person. That, and he is overdue for a Camp visit. As are you, Wanderer.

@Gail you are far too kind.  I'm hoping against hope I'll be able to drop in at BC Campmeeting!  As @Wanderer has mentioned, the fact this forum exists continues to bless people, certainly like me.  Thanks to you and @Stan(and others) for the years of work put into this place.

Remember the "Church Leadership"  during one part of the discussion? That was just awesome!!

The very similar story was happened to me.
All I can say is that meeting real persons out of virtual internet is so interesting.
Sometimes it seems to me that we are having two types of personality.
One in real worlds and one in internet virtual worlds.:catslap::flower:
