This really saddens me...

Suicide, it seems.

He seemed so reckless with his life: he smoked, he drank, he took choresterol medication, he travelled, stayed up late.

What I liked most was his honesty. He seemed authentic and treated people respectfully.

I too was really saddened by this.  Your observations are bang on I think Gail - he was just so much about friendships and meeting people and sharing food etc.  I would do well to be more like that myself.

Sometimes the most reckless people have the biggest heart. 😀

I hadn't heard that he was unhappy, I guess you can never tell! It also seemed like he was having a great time? At least in all the commercials you watch of him!!

I knew who he was but after seeing Anthony and Anderson in the original aired segments gave me appreciation for him fairly recently.

Since Bourdain's passing I have not been able to watch any program with him in it.

There are some celebrities whom I sympathise with, knowing somewhat of their struggles that have been revealed. I respect their courage. Chef Bourdain made no secret that he was a former heroin addict. I wondered what sort of pain he had been carrying.

Another death that touched me was that of Chester Bennington, who had been sexually molested. It makes me think of how deep some wounds are.
