Whether a religious symbol or edifice needs to masquerade as a secular structure in order to escape Establishment Clause scrutiny is at issue in two major cases at the United State Supreme Court.

The Wanderer

@Gregory Matthews  Maybe you could help me to half-understand this? I read this article and am somewhat amazed that organizations which do not by a long-shot represent "the majority" of people and opinions on this are even heard by the SC. Why do these organizations get to deliberately attack historical, cultural, and many other important parts of the past like this? Who on earth is it hurting? What kind of sense does such a lawsuit even make? Who does it actually help? Certainly not the average person to whom such things are enormously important?

- from the article:

Quote

Both cases were brought by humanist organizations – the American Humanist Association brought the cross case, and the historical preservation case was brought by the Freedom From Religion Foundation, an organization that promotes both “nontheism” and separation between religion and government.

They want "separation between religion and government," and yet they use the government to promote and enforce their own religion.  And it is a religion - if its what you spend the majority of your time saying/doing. (IMO) Ideas and thought life cannot be legislated! Doesnt the SC know that?
