Rules of Behavior on This Website

I thought that it might be well to review some of the rules of behavior under which this forum operates.  I will not cover all of them.  Rather I will mainly mention the conditions under which we will remove a post.

*  We generally do not edit posts.  They are usually exactly as written.  However, sometimes a person will contact me and request that I edit some typo or factual error.  I will usually do so upon request from the person who posted the message.

*  Most of the time, when a post is removed, it is only removed from public view. It actually remains and can be viewed by a small group of people here.  This allows us to bring the post back into public view, as has happened, if the we are convinced that this should happen.

The following are posts that I will generally totally remove from view.  [NOTE:  On rare occasions, Stan, Gail, or I will allow a post to remain.]  It should be noted that   I do not always catch such a post and I welcome messages telling me about them.

*  This forum is not a place to solicit contributions to your private charity.

*  This forum is not a place to sell either your business services, or products.

*  I will immediately remove sexually explicit material.  Do not attempt to convince me that it is not porn.  If it is sexually explicit, I will remove it.

*  If you threaten physical harm to a member of this forum, that threat will be turned over to the proper authorities for investigation.  the post will be  reserved until it is determined that it is no longer needed.

*  If you threaten the President of the United states, that post will turned over to the Secret Service for investigation.

*  If you offer to provide illegal, unethical, immoral services, that offer will be removed.

NOTE:   With the exception of a threat to the President, I have had to remove posts in all of  the above.  A person can always appeal such a removal.  If granted, they can post again.

One (or two things) thing missing from your post is character assassination in any form.

While one poster may not agree with another poster, they should not be called liars and other derogatory names. Speaks poorly of the forum to allow it.

Public officials become a difficulty in themselves. Long lines of pejorative adjectives are also stretching it a bit although it may not rise to the level of Secret Service interest. One thing to specifically mention what a notable public person has done, but another to attempt to assassinate character. Such statements about a public person should be backed up with reliable evidence to justify discussing them in that context.

One thing it shows is that there is no forgiveness or grace available within this group or even within our church. Using that same practice of trashing ones character would eliminate nearly every person in the Bible from being considered as a source of spiritual learning. David seriously did more than most any public official you can name in the US in recent times, but we also see glowing assessments of his character.

I attempt to work with people who call others liars.   I consider this to be inappropriate.  I prefer for one to say that a statement is false.  I have asked people to make that change.  I will continue to do so.

As to some of the other comments:  I think that the cure may be worse than the disease, to use an example.  In part, any enforcement would reflect, in my thinking, a human bias.  So, there are some things that I simply leave up to the involved people.

No problem.  I often make mistakes.

The problem is that you have a limited time in which you can edit your own post.  After that time passes, if you want it edited you have to ask someone else, such as  me, Stan or Gail to make that correction for you.

NOTE:  There are others who also can make tha edit for you.  I just gave some  examples.
